Turning to photography as a creative outlet during a valiant fight with breast cancer at age 34, [info]renaissance10 survived and set up a photo contest to help raise funds for the Lavender Trust, a nonprofit that provides information and support to younger women with breast cancer. In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. Renaissance10 recently joined LiveJournal to meet other passionate photographers and find supportive friends.

Always Interested, Never Practiced

1. What is your path? I haven't actually started anything yet, just picking through about five books. I've always preferred the Greek pantheon, but I'm drawn to my Irish heritage, as well.
2. How long have you been practicing? I've been reading off and on for maybe eight or nine years, but haven't seriously studied/practiced.
3. Do you follow any certain deities? If so who? I used to feel a connection to Artemis, but haven't felt anything for almost a year.
4. Practice any type of Divination? What types? None.
5. What do you hope to see/learn in this community? Where to start, soul-searching, anything and everything possible.
6. Anything else you'd like to share? I'm 18, have a black cat I've always been able to "talk" to, Irish Catholic background, but my parents are undecided and very open.

Falling Out

  • Dec. 28th, 2009 at 1:09 AM
Has anyone ever felt like they don't have IT anymore? My whole life I've been into the supernatural, I always wanted to learn astrology and at least learn about Wicca. My interest only became stronger with my move from the Midwest to Appalachia. Almost a year ago, now, I went back up north, and I swear, the minute I set foot where I was born, all my intuition, strong interest, everything was out of my grasp. I've gotten a *little* bit of it back, I'm more interested in pursuing it again, but I just don't know what happened. While I was back up north, I became more depressed, and I was on too strong of a medication for my bipolar, but I've switched and gotten much better, since, yet no major changes. Any thoughts?

To anyone who is in the NYC or northern NJ area, starting 2/2, I'll be teaching a weekly Wicca 101 class at Mystic Spirit in Montclair NJ. You can find more information at http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_ev.html?a=usnj&id=67818

In the NYC area? If you get 10 people together, I'd be happy to teach the course series to you as well.

I can't remember if I've filled out the survey yet so I'll go ahead and do that again just in case :) I have been lurking here for a while though, I just haven't posted anything. So, onto the survery...

1. What is your path? My path definitely has a Celtic leaning but is very eclectic.
2. How long have you been practicing? Well, I got interested about 10 years ago and have been reading up on things ever since. However I started regularly practicing my path a little over a year ago...so I'd say a year and a half now...
3. Do you follow any certain deities? If so who? Bast, Cerridwen, and Ganesha. (in the order in which they came to me)
4. Practice any type of Divination? What types? Tarot--just got a new tarot deck today actually that just sings in my hands (Animals Divine Tarot)
5. What do you hope to see/learn in this community? I would just like a place to connect with other female wiccans/pagans and perhaps swap stories with and share my experiences and maybe get advice on things if I need it in the future...
6. Anything else you'd like to share? I love animals--I am very compassionate towards them. I have 3 kitties (my furbabies) and am vegetarian. Oh and happy solstice!! :)
